Bolivia Says Chinese CBC Will Invest $1 Billion in Lithium Plants

Bolivia has signed an agreement with the Chinese consortium CBC, including battery manufacturer CATL, to build two direct lithium extraction plants with an investment of at least $1 billion. The Bolivian government will hold a 51% stake, and the plants will be located in the Uyuni salt flat. These facilities aim to produce a total of 35,000 metric tons of lithium annually. The agreement, which requires congressional approval, is part of Bolivia's efforts to leverage its vast lithium resources.
